101 Local Album Reviews: This Side of Paradise

Nigel Parry > This Side of Paradise (D.A.M./mp3.com)—2001

The interesting part about this album is that it was recorded live—in Ramallah, West Bank; London, England; Medicine Wheel, Saskatchewan; and Minneapolis, Minn. Even more amazing, the tracks don’t have the sketchy quality of live recordings.

A well-traveled musician like Parry has a lot to say about the life and times, and he exposes these thoughts in his songs with an urgency that only someone who believes in his message can say. (CT)
