All Of This (Unreleased)

This song was the first and only song I wrote in the year following 9/11. I restrained myself because I had already pretty much said everything I wanted to about the Middle East in my This Side of Paradise debut album, which was released in early 2001.

Final version of lyrics: Thursday, October 25th, 2001

All Of This (Unreleased)

Sitting in my room
Underneath a satellite sky
Where man whispers like God
And I can't imagine why
All of this for me and you
On the front page of the paper
An image from Scotland bonnie blue
A man who calls himself a scientist
Has made one sheep into two
All of this for me and you
Why are we afraid of truth?
Why are we afraid of truth?
Because it's always always always there
And it always always always matters

They say they were commissioned by the blood of innocents
In the space between shock and truth
Raining down justice from dark, dark skies
Making one death into two.
All of this for me and you

25 October 2001, Saint Paul, Minnesota.
