I was finding the direct video links by clicking on the RSS feed link from within whatever section I was in (eg. any of the navigation links in the left column "Briefings/Speeches" for the Clinton video, and "This Week in the Pentagon" for the Gates video) Then, in the RSS file, under the video titles, I would click on the file name (there were usually three) with the biggest file size. Then, I was marking-up the URL (as given in examples above) as a link in a local HTML page and opening that in a browser, so it could be Save As-ed, with a right mouse click, to the desktop. Free FLV extractors such as RealPlayer Downloader (bundled with RealPlayer) will also extract the unprotected *.flv files.
