After his first federal trial ended in a hung jury, Texan David McKay pled guilty in a second trial rather than letting his friend from Austin and co-defendant, Bradley Crowder, be manipulated into testifying against him. The FBI and local prosecutors have been counting on the press and public's RNC fatigue to be able to continue to present a clearly exaggerated, domestic security threat—a facade which nearly collapsed at McKay's first trial. Israel's 27 December 2008 to 18 January 2009 attack on Gaza "Operation Cast Lead" was particularly vicious. 1,417 Palestinians were killed, including 926 civilians and 255 civilian police officers. 313 children and 116 women were killed. 236 combatants were killed, just 16.7% of the total. Nigel Parry will be appearing on KFAI's "Dart Gun Radio" show at midnight tonight (Tuesday April 7th) with Coleen Rowley and Melissa Hill, to talk about policing and the RNC. In May 2002, FBI Agent Coleen Rowley brought some of the pre 9-11 lapses to light and testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee about some of the endemic problems facing the FBI and the intelligence community. Rowley was one of three whistleblowers chosen as persons of the year by TIME magazine. Melissa Hill is a former Oregonian and current Minneapolis resident and grassroots activist. After being mass-arrested and seeing the police state in full force during the RNC, she became involved with the Community RNC Arrestee Support Structure (CRASS). A massive consignment of US munitions was delivered to Israel in recent weeks, according to information revealed by Amnesty International. The organization received information that the Wehr Elbe, a German cargo ship, chartered and controlled by US Military Sealift Command, docked and unloaded its cargo of reportedly over 300 containers at the Israeli port of Ashdod, just 40km north of Gaza by road on 22 March. The German ship left the USA for Israel on 20 December, one week before the start of Israeli attacks on Gaza. It was carrying 989 containers of munitions, each of them 20 feet long with a total estimated net weight of 14,000 tons. |
