![]() action & events Letter sent to the Presbyterian Church to negate the Simon Wiesenthal Center's anti-BDS spam campaign Nigel Parry, Thursday, February 25th, 2010
The Simon Weisenthal Center has set up a spam tool—of which not one single letter of their text can be changed—to pressure the Presbyterian Church not to approve a BDS campaign against Israel. I wrote to elders of the Church myself, with a refutation of the letter, and an appeal for them to support the campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions as the only right thing to do. Video: Protesting Israeli racist and ethnic cleansing advocate Efraim Eitam @ Pittsburgh Hillel Nigel Parry, Thursday, February 4th, 2010
Hillel hosted former Israeli Knesset member Efraim Eitam's Jewish National Fund-sponsored event. Many from Pittsburgh's peace and justice community came out to protest his speech. This ten minute video records speakers from the street protest, and documents the arrival of school buses carrying young Jewish high school students who are one of the main target audiences of the "Caravan for Democracy" tour. Letter to Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs about Egypt's actions against convoys to Gaza Nigel Parry, Wednesday, January 6th, 2010
In the last month, I have watched with horror as Egypt has denied entry to both the Gaza Freedom March convoy and the Viva Palestina convoy, deployed riot police to stop protests against this indefensible measure in both Cairo and Al-Arish port, while grossly misrepresenting its activities on the website of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. [...] Egypt's treatment of the two December convoys has brought a little-known fact to the forefront of the debatethat the government of Egypt is very obviously 100% complicit in the Israeli siege. End Israeli Apartheid: Cairo Declaration International delegates on the Gaza Freedom March, Friday, January 1st, 2010
The January 1st Cairo Declaration was initiated by South African members of the Gaza Freedom March after Egypt prevented access for 1,400 delegates and the aid supplies they brought to Gaza. Protesting their barring from Gaza in Cairo, delegates were beaten and arrested by riot police. The 100% collaboration of the Egyptian regime with the Israeli occupation was thus announced to the international activist community. Urgent Appeal: Support Independent Media Appeal, RNC '08 Report, Thursday, October 1st, 2009
The RNC '08 Report just spent 10 days in Pittsburgh to document and report on the G20 Summit protests for Pittsburgh and Twin Cities Indymedia and assist with the making of a 30-minute documentary, to be released today. The RNC '08 Report is a voluntary independent media project that is used by RNC arrestee legal defense teams, journalists covering the RNC (and now G20) aftermath, and activists working to challenge excessive policing. With funding, we can afford to set aside time to build the project and expand our work with activists around the country in order to support them in the ongoing struggle against police brutality. Statement by Richard Goldstone on behalf of the Members of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict before the Human Rights Council United Nations, Tuesday, September 29th, 2009
The head of the UN Fact Finding Mission, Justice Richard Goldstone, presented the report of the Mission to the Human Rights Council in Geneva on 29 September 2009, urging the Council and the international community as a whole to put an end to impunity for violations of international law in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Israel predictably began frothing at the mouth about the report. Pocket of Resistance to play Pigstock on July 18th! nigelparry.com, Friday, July 10th, 2009
On July 18th, 2009, the 7th Annual Pigstock: A Gathering for Peace will take place at Windbeam Farm in Hager City WI.
