Portfolios & Photo Stories

This Side of Paradise
Twelve uncropped colour images taken between 1996 and 1998 that explore an alternate perspective of one of the most commonly covered areas of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- clashes between young Palestinians and Israeli troops.

Be sure to check out A Personal Diary of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, my extensive photodiary from the same period, covering three years between 1995 and 1998.

Saint Paul Art Crawl
This twice-annual event in Minnesota attracts several thousand visitors to studios in the artist loft district in Lowertown, St. Paul. I photographed five Crawls between 2002 and 2004:
  • Fall 2002
  • Spring 2003
  • Fall 2003
  • Spring 2004
  • Fall 2004

    Halloween
As Halloween 2003 approached, I called a friend in the Tilsner Artists' Cooperative who holds the best Halloween party in town, and asked him if I could set up a portrait booth in a spare room and photograph the guests in costume. The idea was to get a clean digital shot of the costumes against a plain background, perhaps get some of the characters to interact, and see what happened. Looking at the final 166 frames, some clearly offered themselves for further digital manipulation into various cinematic and artistic styles, with some interesting results.
