Photos: NYC demonstration for Lebanon and Gaza

When Israel launched its war against Gaza on June 27th, and against Lebanon on July 12th, the Palestinian-American, Lebanese-American, and wider Arab-American community rallied together for a series of demonstrations across New York City. I attended a demonstration that began in Brooklyn and ended up in Manhattan, via the Brooklyn Bridge. A beautiful day, the peaceful march was only marred by blatant police infiltration, more than a little creepy in the post-Patriot Act era.

Above: In the photo below, you'll see the Ché T-shirt guy with an NYPD jacket on, watching demonstrators as they came across the Brooklyn Bridge. I saw at least three other men in plain clothes do the same thing. I imagine they had been present at the beginning of the demo in Brooklyn, and had come across in the police van to wait for the demonstrators to come across to the Manhattan side of the bridge.
