Snapshots: End of Summer in the Midwest
FINAL SWIMMING AT THE WISCONSIN CABIN
 |
Fall colors in Wisconsin, 23 September 2007.

It had to happen. Winter weather typically decends on the Midwest in an unexpected way, with sudden cold fronts. Lows for the next three days in Saint Paul, Minnesota are freezing or under. Time to get out the ugly but practical clothes, stuff a couple of ferrets down your trousers, shack up in bed with a loved human (or animal), and get ready for 5 months of whining from everyone — including both whining about the cold, and whining about other people whining. Here's the last of the summer, as seen from the Midwest.

Amy's always asking us to collect strange stuff for her latest pottery project. Here, the camera phone shot to let her know that indeed, we were all collecting acorns, and not just hanging out up at the cabin. 3 November 2007.

Bedlam Theater's Halloween night show in Hidden Falls Park, St. Paul. Giant puppets, fire, and a park setting unexpectedly resulted in dog-friendly entertainment. When the Mark Twain character and the giant catfish appeared from stage right, the Roo Dog suddenly got it. In the middle of the audiences' oohs and aahs, the Roo Dog's low growls at the new characters appearing amused those sitting around us. 31 October 2007.
